Shibori is the Japanese term for tied and bound resist dyeing techniques. Although traditionally done with indigo, we will be using multiple colors of synthetic dye. Each student will receive two 27" x 27" hemmed cotton bandanas to dye, and the instructor will provide primary dye colors that can be combined to achieve any desired color. Examples and instructions for variations of folding, tying, and clasping will be demonstrated to create a range of different patterns. The projects will go home wet, to be revealed the next day.
